September 7, 1998 Eye Caramba has basically come into being because I have been wanting to publish quality photographic work and I believe the magazine format as practiced on the internet will generate more word of mouth and general karmic energy and quickly because of the number of photographers that might be involved from issue to issue. "Fine Art" may be an apt description for the type of photography I am looking for but those words 'fine art' can foster a certain intellectual holier than thou which is a little unseemly at times. So you might say I am after original work, or alternative work. A rose is a rose but if you send pictures of flowers they better be pretty damn good ones. I am hoping to shine a light upon compelling photography. Period. But I am open to general excellence of any sort. There will be room for excellent writing and other cerebral output of every variation. But there will mostly be photographs. And writings focusing upon photography. Call me what you will but my own aesthetic will come fully to bear upon the task of editing the materials which are collected throughout Eye Caramba. No excuses, though. and you are welcome to skewer my choices as you see fit. We are at the cusp of furious pleasure. Come back in January 1999. But send your photos before December 1st, 1998.
and take care,
