December, 1998 Some of the work has been completed. But I am not nearly there as many of you might have guessed. Early on, I had hoped to get an HTML mercenary to help with startup of this magazine. And, for various reasons, it never happened. But mostly, though, the delay was bad management. I wasn't working nearly as hard as I needed to because, basically, I didn't know what needed to be done or how to do it. After a few months, the delays wore me down and I began to pick up books, surf websites about web design asked too many questions to some generous friends who kindly helped me along. In short, I began doing this myself and discovered that electronic publishing isn't all that difficult but it takes a pretty damn long time to put together. My own screwed up initial efforts and failed HTML and busted designs have given me a solid appreciation for all those who have helped me throughout. many thanks go to:
So, that said, I am making progress as webmaster. Things are moving along. Please forgive me the delays and I will try to post a quality magazine. Finally, I want to thank all of the photographers and writers who have given me the opportunity to publish their work. There undoubtedly are questions with regard to image quality or text editing. I will address every concern I possibly can. I have finally got the basics of this medium under control but there are many further subtleties that will have to come with time. One frequent question from photographers has been are the images too dark/too light? My answer is evolving. Basically, I am doing all the work on a Mac and I have calibrated my machine pretty well I think... Now, many viewers of the magazine are viewing on Mac's and many are viewing on PC's and these different platforms having different default settings: lights, darks, gamma, color balance, etc. My vocabulary here is a bit shaky but the variance from computer to computer makes it difficult to please everyone. My primary goal will be to please the artist and will take on every question and complaint. That seems to cover the status of things at the moment. Stay tuned... More to Come.
Happy New Year,
