a portfolio of 6 images
Over the past few years, I have seen Michelle's photography in a variety of different
venues. Her printing style lends a crusty organic mood to her images, which are generally made with a cheap plastic camera, the Holga.
If you are already familiar with
the sultry wiles of Holga and Diana you likely know that there is a bit of a
photographic subculture afoot. These cheap cameras are championed
by many excellent photographers and along with their low-tech brethren
of the pinhole contingent, these intellectual renovators have moved the
popular medium another step once more towards pictorialism. "f64, My Ass!" was
one of the original suggested rallying cries, but i digress... Michelle, who is one of the perennial names on
that 'toy camera' circuit, has mostly come
to my attention as a black and white photographer so it was nice to learn that
she had some color work from an ongoing project, 'Celebration Art'.
In her own words, " These images and the events they
capture celebrate community, art, and the magic that comes from joining them together!"
